Summary:
Movies contributed $9.4 billion (17%) of Disney's $55.6 billion in 2016 revenue. The company's tobacco content started to drop in 2005, after Disney adopted a policy 'discouraging' tobacco in its movies and sold its chain-smoking Miramax division. In 2016, Disney updated its policy, declaring that no cigarettes will pop up in kid-rated films from its Walt Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel and Pixar labels. Touchstone, which distributed DreamWorks films for years, was left off the list. Disney's last film with smoking was also its last DW film, The Light Between Oceans, rated PG-13 and released in September 2016.
