Sony Pictures Entertainment, the movie studio division of Japan-based Sony Corporation, had $8.1 billion in sales in FY 2017 — 12 percent of the parent company’s $67.9 billion revenue. Sony published its first internal policy on tobacco depictions at the end of 2012. Sony films have accounted for 17 percent of all tobacco impressions delivered to US theater audiences since 2002. The share of the company's PG-13 films that show smoking fell below 50% for the first time in 2016. It has also cut back on the display of tobacco brands in its films, with the recent exception of Baby Driver (2017).
